The main activities at GexCon R&D are:
- Development of the CFD code FLACS
- Maintenance of the CFD code FLACS
- Research projects, including contract research, involving FLACS
- Publications in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences
GexCon R&D continues the work on gas, mist and dust explosion safety that was initiated at Christian Michelsen Institute (CMI) in 1970. This activity continued at Christian Michelsen Research (CMR) from 1990 to 1998, when GexCon was established.
A long-term commitment to research and development (R&D) is a prerequisite for delivering state-of-the-art software products and consultancy services within the field of technical safety in the process industries. GexCon R&D specialises in the development, testing and validating of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.
Keeping up with changes in technology, legislation and industry standards for best practices requires continuous and dedicated R&D efforts. Our vision is to develop reliable, efficient and user-friendly simulation tools for industrial use. Significant efforts are invested in validating the implemented models in experiments.
